Frozen Waterfall Trekking
This is a snowshoe trekking tour to the magnificent and sacred frozen waterfall deep in the mountain of Hida-Osaka. The trekking to the frozen waterfall and the forest bathing in the silent snow-capped forest will be something you will long remember.
Waterfall of magnificent frozen pillars like an art.
The frozen waterfall gets as big as 15 meters (50 feet) high and 5 meters (16 feet) wide. It starts forming in early November and will drop and disappear by the end of April. The local guide who knows the area better than anyone will take you to the waterfall in all its beauty. The trail is about total 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) and takes about 4. 5 hours round trip. It’s a complete snow trail which requires snowshoes and spikes. The trail starts at an altitude of 1,800 meters (5,900 feet). There, the air gets as cold as -20 ℃ (46 ℉), and the snow piles up as high as 2 meters (6.6 feet). Physical toughness and the ability to walk and stay outside in these conditions is necessary for this tour. During the tour, the guide will prepare a hot outdoor lunch.
Please take a bus operated by Nohi bus to Hida-Osaka. Our guide will meet you at Osaka-cho bus stop.

07:38/50 AM Meet the guide at Osaka-cho bus stop.
08:10 AM Check the gear at Hida-Osaka Activity Base
and leave for the trail head.
10:00 AM Arrive at the trail head.
10:30 AM Start trekking with all the gear on.
12:00 AM Arrive at the frozen waterfall site.
Enjoy the time around and lunch.
01:15 PM Leave the site
03:00 PM Return to the trail head.
Leave for the town.
04:30 PM Arrive in Hida-Osaka town.
Finish the tour.
<What to bring>
- Warm clothes (Fleece or light down jackets are recommended).
- Knitted cap, sunglasses, and drink.
***Rain jacket and coat, snow boots, and snowshoes are available for free. Sizes are limited. 216WORKS will ask your size at the time of reservation.

- JPY 27,500 per person, including tax
- Additional JPY 30,000 for a private arrangement

<Payment method>
Cash or credit card on the day of the tour at the time of sign-up.
<Booking>
-Please read through "Winter requirement PDF" to make sure you are eligible for the tour.
-Please make a reservation at least 3 days before the tour date.
- Please book via the contact form indicating your name and your contact info. Please also make sure to indicate the desired tour name and the tour date.
<Cancellation>
- No cancelation fee is applied until 2 days before the tour date.
- 50 % of the tour price will be charged to participants who cancel their tour between 0:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the day before the tour date.
- The full fee will be charged to participants who cancel their tour after 5:00 PM on the day before the tour date.
